A group of Bill Nelson fans in the U.S. is thinking about organizing a Nelsonica fan convention here, but we are not sure about the level of interest in attending such an event. We have developed a simple questionnaire to help us gather the information we need to begin the planning process.
 
At this time, it is most likely that the event would be somewhat similar to the UK convention, which includes a live Q & A session, a 2-hour live performance by Bill (of largely new material), an auction of Bill’s artwork, door prizes, merchandise sales, recorded music and video, a relaxed autograph session/meet & greet with Bill and Emi Nelson, and the opportunity to socialize with other fans.

The convention would probably last a full day. Please note that it is likely that the U.S. event will probably differ from the UK event in some way. But to start the planning process we need to gauge interest if we were able to do a similar event.

The convention would probably be held in October, and would probably be in or very near an east coast city such as Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. or New York. This would be to help reduce both Bill’s flying time, and the travel costs for Bill and any UK fans who might wish to attend.

The ticket price -- still to be determined -- would cover admission, a limited edition convention CD (unique to the U.S. event) and access to all the day’s activities.

Every year, for the last five years, U.K. fans of my music have organised an annual fan convention known as Nelsonica. I've attended every one of them and also performed at the last four, both in a solo format and with other musicians. Convention attendees have also received an exclusive, limited edition cd of specially recorded material and have enjoyed various special presentations, including the screening of rare archive video and meet n' greet signing sessions. It has been a pleasure for me to meet many of my fans in this way and Nelsonica U.K. has become one of the highlights of the year, for both myself and my audience. Fans in the U.S. are investigating the possibility of organising a similar event for American Nelsonians. This survey is the first step in the process and will determine whether or not Nelsonica-America is a viable proposition. I hope you will make your views felt by responding.
